Reviewing The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Season 2

I could not wait to share my opinions about the reality TV divas of the second season of Bravo's "Real Housewives of Atlanta."  Though the second season was less interesting than the first, thanks to the annoying antics of NeNe Leakes, Lisa Wu Hartwell and Kim Zolciak, I still wanted to add my analysis of each other show's stars.

In a nutshell, this is what I observed from the stars of the second season of "Real Housewives."

NeNe Leakes = annoying, over-the-top, full of drama for the camera, insecure, VERY jealous of independent women of confidence (especially Kandi & Sheree)

Kim Zolciak = funny, ignorant, delusional, cigarette fiend

Sheree Whitfield = sarcastically funny, arrogant, comically arrogant, fashion forward (on clothes), diva, 'bout it

Lisa Wu Hartwell = hyper, child-like, two-faced towards Kandi & Kim, bratty, insecure, intimidated by NeNe and Sheree

Kandi Burruss = the realist, the calmest, most confident

NeNe Leakes & Kim Zolciak Make Joint Appearance On "Kimmel"

Love them or hate them, the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" divas are the "it girls" of the week.  At least, they are more interesting to become acquainted with rather than the overexposed Kardashian family.  Since their finale of the second season aired on Thursday, hundreds of thousands of people are sharing their comments about NeNe Leaks, Kim Zolciak, Kandi Burruss, Sheree Whitfield, Lisa Wu Hartwell and even frequent visitor Dwight Eubanks. 

Only NeNe and Kim were invited to the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show last night to address their relatonship and talk about their entrepreneurial endeavors.  NeNe promoted her new book titled Never Make The Same Mistake Twice while Kim promoted her new wig line.  While the two seemed very phony with their pleasant interactions with each other, it was the funny questions of sarcasm that Kimmel darted at the twosome about the question his mother wanted answers.  His mother is an avid fan and watcher of "Housewives."

Soul Train Music Awards Returns With Beyonce, Keri Hilson And Maxwell As Multiple Nominees

With four nominations each, Beyoncé, Keri Hilson and Maxwell head the list of nominees for the return of the "Soul Train Awards." The awards ceremony, hosted by actors Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, will be the first special aired on BET's recently launched CENTRIC Network. Taping November 3 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, the "CENTRIC Presents: 2009 Soul Train Awards" will premiere on both CENTRIC and BET in a special simulcast on November 29 at 9 p.m.
 
In addition to awards presented in various categories, the show will salute the careers of legendary artists Chaka Khan, Charlie Wilson, Antonio "L.A." Reid and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. The Soul Train Awards will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of Motown Records and honor the late Michael Jackson with the Entertainer of the Year award. Scheduled performers include Toni Braxton, Trey Songz, Chrisette Michelle, Ledisi and Melanie Fiona.

Taylor Gets Love From American Music Awards' Nominations; Kanye Gets Snubbed

Apparently, rapper Kanye West's mean-spirited antics towards country-pop darling Taylor Swift affected his eligibility in the nominations of the 2009 American Music Awards.  The popular rapper, whose 2008 album 808's & Heartbreak became a best-seller with three top 10 singles, was shut out from the nominations in favor of less successful hip-hop artists Jay-Z, T.I. and Eminem.

So far Alicia Keys, The Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez, and Adam Lambert have signed on to perform at the event, set to take place Sunday, November 22 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Watch "VH-1 Hip-Hop Honors" Performances Honoring Def Jam

If you have not seen a re-run or the first run of "VH-1's Hip-Hop Honors," you really have not missed much with the exception of a few key performances.  Overall, the show was not worth two consecutive hours sitting in front of the tube.  Missing the most successful artists on the Def Jam Recordings roster, who was honored for its 25th anniversary, including LL Cool J, Jay-Z and Kanye West defeated the purpose of celebrating Def Jam Records.  In fact, co-founder Russell Simmons shared his disappointment by calling the ceremony "incomplete."

Bianca Richardson Gets The Boot On "Top Model"

Another Black contestant gets eliminated from "America's Next Top Model" for the second week in a row.  Bianca, who turned judges off initially for having diarrhea of the mouth, failed to impress judges with her inability to soften her face at photo shoots.  Last week, she softened up as the judges wanted when she claimed that Jesus was on her mind.  What was on her mind that cost her the competition?

Tyra Banks, the host of "Top Model," was the photographer of this week's challenge.  Sundai Love and Ashley Howard are the last two Black girls standing.  So far, neither has a chance to last to travel abroad with the top six contestants.

TV Watch: Mya On "Dancing With The Stars" - Week 2

R&B singer/dancer Mya wowed the "Dancing With The Stars" judges with her outstanding jive dance last night with her partner Dimitry.  The judges were so impressed that the songbird received 27 out of 30 points.  Clearly, Mya may be the first person on the show to receive a perfect score if she keeps up the momentum.

Thank God that alternative soul singer Macy Gray was voted out last week.  She seemed that she was far from interested in competing once the spotlight was on.

Watch Jay-Z's Interview On Oprah

The hip-hop generation witnessed history when Jay-Z became a main guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday.  Apparently being Beyoncé's husband has its perks since Oprah Winfrey showed her disdain towards the careless behavior of the hip-hop music industry.  Word has it that in order to be granted an interview with Beyoncé late last year, Oprah has to agree to interview Jay-Z for a future episode.

The interview turned out great.  Oprah took viewers into the most exclusive look into Jay-Z role in his empire as a businessman in fashion, music and sports.  No other TV outlet has shown Jay-Z office space and in-office activities.

Even the residents of a Brooklyn neighborhood witnessed a monumental moment with the talk show queen and the rap legend visited the childhood neighborhood where Mr. Carter grew up.  Cameras a videocameras flashed everywhere as the two taped the episode.

The most intriguing part of this interview is the debate of the use of the N-word between Oprah and Jay.  Of course, Jay defends the use in hip-hop culture while Oprah cements the discussion with a powerful imagery about the historical use of it.  Check out their points.

Jay-Z:

“People give words power. For our generation, What we did is we took the word and we took the power out of that word. We took a word that was very ugly and hurtful and took the power out of that word.”

Oprah:

“My generation and generations before me (coming up through the civil rights movement), that word carries a sense of hatred and degradation. I always think about when people are screaming it at your concerts, I think about Black men that were lynched and that is the last word they heard.”

I must agree with Oprah's stance here.  Hopefully, Jay-Z's fan base will take notes here and rid themselves of the ignorance they carelessly embraced.
