Jennifer Lopez Begins The New Year As A Major Embarassment

Within the first few minutes of 2010 (east coast time), some celebrity had to make a fool of him/herself.  Besides rapper Bow Wow who boasted online about driving while intoxicated to which no one caring much about him these days, pop diva Jennifer Lopez won the honor with her sheer, body suit and bafooning it up on stage like a drunk during the closing of Ryan Seacrest's countdown show on ABC.  Those who have seen her antics saw the desperate pop diva kicking her legs in the air with a drunken stupor live on television while the credits were rolling.

If Jennifer had any sense, with her embarrassing American Music Awards performance of "Louboutins" and this recent incident, Jennifer should no longer agree to make any appearances on the ABC network.  Apparently, the station is bad luck for the soon-to-be has-been.

Why aren't Marc Anthony (Lopez' husband), Epic Records (her record label) and her management telling this misguided woman that her music career is a wrap?

Today, music cable station VH-1 unveiled its list of the top 40 music videos of 2009, and unsurprisingly, our favorite music divas were included on this list.  Can you guess who earned the coveted #1 position?  You might be surprised as it is a toss up between two pop divas who ruled the pop singles charts this year.  Check out the following stars whose videos made the countdown.

Watch Jennifer Hudson's "I'll Be Home For Christmas" TV Special

Chicago native and R&B diva Jennifer Hudson was granted her very own TV special to air during the Christmas season on ABC this Monday night.  Titled "I'll Be Home For Christmas," Ms. Hudson took viewers back to her hometown and showcasing the landmarks of her upbringing during the holiday seasons, including Evergreen Plaza and Dunbar Vocational Career Academy, and singing some of her favorite songs about the birth of Jesus Christ and holiday cheer.

Whitney Houston Speaks On Britney Spears' Lip-Synching & Booty-Shakin' Singers

As she promotes her album and tour across the Pacific Ocean, Whitney Houston sits down for a televised interview with Australia's "9 Today" to discuss her music comeback amongst many other topics. 

As far as her comeback, she prefers to call her new album a work in progress as she has not "comeback from anywhere."  She "decided" to record again.  Hmmm.

"Now you know I don't lip-sync" was her quick reply to the question about her thoughts about the Britney Spears' lip-syncing controversy.  Without a good voice or not, Ms. Houston made a bold statement.  Therefore, there should be no faulting Whitney when there are many more people who do not sing live.  She does point out that those singers need to "do their homework" and study the artists that came before them.  That happened to be a great lesson her mother taught her.

She mentions that she has no plans to do any movies.  Whew!

One has to wonder whether she was coming for Beyonce when she quips, "I don't have to take off my clothes.  I don't have to [you know] shake my booty.  I can still sang. Praise God."

Is Mariah Carey Back On Drugs? Check Out This Interview

Let's face it.  One of favorite pop divas, Mariah Carey, has gone bonkers and needs help -- mentally.  Her career steadily languishes as she continues to expose herself to be clowned by the bloggers, critics and fair-weathered fans.  The aforementioned are justified because we want to see the crazy pop singer be a sophisticated, singing diva the world grew to love through the early 90's and in 2005.  Instead, Ms. Carey-Cannon prefers to be an aging 39-year-old wearing unflattering outfits that look better on 18 year-olds and whispering throughout childish lyrics rather than belting out soulful tunes that her made the reigning pop queen for many years.

Check out this interview on "Live With Regis & Kelly" that took place yesterday.  There are many things wrong with this interview for Mariah.  First, with her worst selling album of her career continuing to be unnoticed, Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel got less than five seconds of promotion while its was overshadow by conversations about her 2008 marriage to Nick Cannon and her mini-performance on the critically acclaimed film Precious.  Apparently, the TV hosts were not interested in her music like the majority of the people that bought The Emancipation Of Mimi.  However, that was not the most startling situation in this interview.

Did Mariah answer questions as if she was inebriated or drugged up?  Also, what is up with her diction?  In her earlier days as a songwriter, Mariah used plenty of collegiate words in her lyrics effortlessly, yet in this interview, she mention how she "was like" every time she wanted to express herself in conversations with others.  This was no MTV interview as the target audience of "Regis" are baby boomers rather than teens.

When will Mariah learn that she will continue to fail when does not submit to the easy demands from her fans?

Meet The Women Of Frank "The Entertainer" Moresca's Show

VH-1 has churned out another reality-TV love game show around one of its former rejected contestants.  

The madness began with "Flavor Of Love" where rap icon Flavor Flav dumped Tiffany "New York" Pollard for two consecutive seasons as a finalist whseo over-the-top antics prevented from being Flav's new slutty queen.  Being the self-proclaimed "Head Bitch In Charge (a.k.a. H.B.I.C.)," Pollard was given the green light to have two seasons of her own reality-TV show "I Love New York," an adventure that continued her quest for love from forty male suitors who cared more about fame than being her lover.

"New York" created a spin-off titled "Real Chance Of Love" which brought out more attention-seeking, body-exposing women vying for the affections of "New York" rejects Chance and Real who are also brothers.

Now, VH-1 unveils another reality-TV love/game show around another "New York" reject Frank "The Entertainer" Maresca.  The self-admitted loser who is well known for living in his parent's basement and underemployed meets fifteen women who want to win his heart on the tentatively titled "Frank The Entertainer...A Basement Affair."

Check out these fifteen contestants.  There are two token Black chicks, which will be a surprise if they make it past the halfway point of eliminations.  Overall, the dark-skinned Black one was the only cute, non-stripper trash looking of all the contestants.

The Worst Lip-Synching Moment Ever Caught On TV

This Romanian singer obviously lip-synced through this performance because he sang into his microphone while it was upside down.  A YouTube viewer responded that the guy played a joke toward the audience and stated that.

Did this performance looked as "staged" as the commenter claimed, or was this an epic fail?  You be the judge.

Janet Jackson Performs "All For You" & "Make Me" On The "X-Factor"

Legendary R&B/pop diva Janet Jackson headed overseas to London to perform at the "The X-Factor" television show.  Similar to the U.S. "Americian Idol," the show brings some of the world's biggest acts to add more entertainment value to gain viewers.  Following Whitney Houston, Lady Gaga, among others, Jackson gave a lively performance of her 2001 chart-topper "All For You" along with her new single "Make Me."  With more than a few dozen background dancers in tow, Ms. Jackson gave her greatest stage performance in years.

Rihanna Performs "Rated R" Songs On "Saturday Night Live"

Pop singing sensation Rihanna promoted her Rated R album on "Saturday Night Live" with her two singles "Hard" and "Russian Roulette."  Though "Roulette" was performed better by far, Ms. Fenty really needs to strength her stage performance.  She appeared to be bored during the "Hard" performance where guest rapper Young Jeezy stole the show.

Lady Gaga Performs "Bad Romance" On "X-Factor"

One artist you can count on not giving a boring performance is pop music starlet Lady Gaga.  Often the talk of every award show she has performed in 2009, Gaga brings the most eye-catching dramatic set to an award program from her costumes to choreography to stage set-up.  This weekend's performance at the UK's "X-Factor" continues her trend of show-stopping acts.  Gaga and company delivered a theatrical performance of her latest hit single "Bad Romance" in a bath tub with the fashionably outrageous costumes and over-the-top dance routine.  It is only certain that the Brits enjoyed this televised performance from this soon-to-be pop queen.

ABC Reviews Televised Live Performers Due To Lambert's Antics

Singer Adam Lambert's sexually charged performance at the American Music Awards has caused the Walt Disney co-owned ABC-TV to review the steps it takes in preparing for live broadcasts of performers, Disney's head of television said on Monday.

Lambert, the runner-up on this year's "American Idol," gave a controversial performance during ABC's broadcast of the American Music Awards on November 22, in which he simulated oral sex on-stage with a backup dancer, kissed a man and gave the middle finger to the audience.

ABC edited Lambert's performance during the west coast broadcast of the night-time awards show, and later canceled Lambert's scheduled November 25 appearance on its "Good Morning America" program.

Disney/ABC Television Group president Anne Sweeney told Reuters that in reaction to the Lambert performance, Disney was reviewing the steps it takes to vet live performances by getting assurances from artists that their stage shows will resemble their rehearsals, and using contractual obligations to hold them to that.

"We certainly don't want to suppress artistry at any level, but we also have to be very cognizant of who our audience is," Sweeney said at the Reuters Media Summit on Monday.

She added that it was the right decision for ABC to cancel Lambert's scheduled performance on "Good Morning America," noting that many children watch the morning news show.

"We really had to take the decision very seriously and found that his performance was very unpredictable at night and (we) didn't know what to expect in the morning," she said.

VH-1 Debuts Fantasia's New Reality TV Show In January 2010

 

R&B star Fantasia will let fans and viewers come into her world via reality TV on the VH-1 Networking.  With successful shows created around urban music acts Salt-N-Pepa, Irv "Gotti" Lorenzo, and Flavor Flav, Fantasia get the green light on an eight episode series titled "Fantasia For Real."

Jennifer Hudson Talks Baby's First Christmas On "Oprah"

New mom Jennifer Hudson proudly shows of photos of her son David Jr. on the "Oprah" as she explains all the neat ideas planned to celebrate the holiday season with him and her husband.

"I'm gonna go crazy," she told Oprah Winfrey on her show Monday after proudly sharing new pictures of the 4-month-old bundle of joy. "He's very aware, but he's young and it's his first Christmas, so you have to go all out. I kind of want to bring him his own Santa Claus and have a toy store in the house, full of things. It's my warm-up, though, for the years to come, when he's older and he can enjoy it."

What Are Our Favorite "Top Model" Contestants Doing Today?

With thirteen seasons of the hit reality-TV series "America's Next Top Model" aired, there is no escaping of the cat-fighting drama around the catwalk for the legions of aspiring contestants we have grown to love since 2003.  After its first-run airing on the CW network, the Tyra Banks-helmed show has re-runs on cable networks Oxygen, Lfietime, VH-1 and MTV.

So what have our favorite runway divas been up to?  Check out these contestants' updates.

 

Jade Cole, Season 6: Remembered as one the uh, abrasive personalities on "ANTM," Jade Cole has since gone the way of the video vixen, appearing in segments for Jamie Foxx, Ne-Yo and, aptly, in Jay-Z's "Change Clothes." When the biracial beauty isn't busy working the runway in Hong Kong or South Africa, she's scribbling her autobiography and going on film auditions. As for "Top Model," Cole has said, "I feel like they only focused on my negative attributes." Uh huh.

 

Fo Porter, Season 12: One of the more memorable faces of that season, freckled Fo Porter made it a priority to get her GED after getting dismissed from the show last April. In six short months, she's scored gigs for Target, Nike and for Abercrombie & Fitch, shooting with Bruce Weber.

 

Fatima Siad, Season 10: Somalian and Ethopian stunner Fatima Siad, who found herself as the face of genital mutilation causes on season 10, may not have taken the title, but she definitely won big. Since wrapping "Top Model," the NYU-grad has posed pretty for Elle, Ebony, WWD, and walked the runway forBetsey Johnson and Louis Vuitton, amongst others. Still, Siad called her season of "Top Model" a joke, noting that the fact that a reportedly plus-sized model -- whose biggest gig since has been JCPenneycatalog work -- won "might be about politics."

 

Toccara Jones, Season 3: She came in seventh on the third season of "ANTM," but that didn't stop Toccara Jones from making a name for herself. Signing as a plus-sized model with Wilhelmina Models, Jones has worked for Ashley Stewart, Avon, Torrid, Rocawear, New York & Co. and other major brands. Most recently, she scored a major coup with a 14-page spread, shot by Steven Meisel, for the all-black issue of Italian Vogue. Still, the sometime BET-host's stellar portfolio is marred by a 2008stint on the VH-1 reality hit "Celebrity Fit Club," where the proud Jones dropped some 32 pounds.
