Whitney, Mariah, Beyonce, Keri and Lady Gaga Dominate VH-1's Top 40 Videos Of 2009

 

Today, music cable station VH-1 unveiled its list of the top 40 music videos of 2009, and unsurprisingly, our favorite music divas were included on this list.  Can you guess who earned the coveted #1 position?  You might be surprised as it is a toss up between two pop divas who ruled the pop singles charts this year.  Check out the following stars whose videos made the countdown.

Check out the Rihanna's music video for "Hard," the third single from her Rated R album.  In summary, she shuts down all her competition in the music video game and fashion department here.  This should make Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Britney Spears, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Brandy, Toni Braxton, Janet Jackson, Monica, Mya, Amerie, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, and whoever else really think outside the box in their future music videos and gives us fans an eyeful and not the predictable.  Well, Lady Gaga is the only pop diva that is still ahead of the music video game.

Whitney Houston Speaks On Britney Spears' Lip-Synching & Booty-Shakin' Singers

As she promotes her album and tour across the Pacific Ocean, Whitney Houston sits down for a televised interview with Australia's "9 Today" to discuss her music comeback amongst many other topics. 

As far as her comeback, she prefers to call her new album a work in progress as she has not "comeback from anywhere."  She "decided" to record again.  Hmmm.

"Now you know I don't lip-sync" was her quick reply to the question about her thoughts about the Britney Spears' lip-syncing controversy.  Without a good voice or not, Ms. Houston made a bold statement.  Therefore, there should be no faulting Whitney when there are many more people who do not sing live.  She does point out that those singers need to "do their homework" and study the artists that came before them.  That happened to be a great lesson her mother taught her.

She mentions that she has no plans to do any movies.  Whew!

One has to wonder whether she was coming for Beyonce when she quips, "I don't have to take off my clothes.  I don't have to [you know] shake my booty.  I can still sang. Praise God."

Check Out The 2010 Grammy Nominees Led by Beyoncé , Taylor Swift, Maxwell and Lady Gaga

 

Check out the nominees for the 2010 Grammy Awards.  With an astounding 10 nominations, R&B diva Beyoncé is sure to be a big winner from the success of her I Am...Sasha Fierce.  It is of no surprise that country-pop darling Taylor Swift would be a leading nominee also.  Being the biggest album seller of the year, Taylor is up for eight nominations, competing in the top three categories alongside Beyonce.

Other multiple nominees include R&B crooner Maxwell, pop superstar Lady Gaga, Chicago rapper Kanye West and hip-pop group the Black Eyed Peas.  Surprisingly, R&B divas Whitney Houston, Brandy and Mariah Carey are snubbed, while R&B's worst male performer Trey Songz and Marcus P have at least two nominations apiece.

Fans of pop diva Britney Spears are rejoicing the singer's accomplishment of topping the music charts with her recent and most racy single "3."  The ode to sexual threesomes find Britney tackling a feat as the only non-"American Idol" to debut a single at the pinnacle of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart this decade.

With the single's popularity over its suggestive lyrics, critics and fans are clamoring over the secretive details about its music video.  MTV provided four leaked photos from the video shoot.  Check them out.

 

SONG REVIEW: "3" by Britney Spears

Since her successful comeback in late 2007, pop music icon Britney Spears plans to release a second greatest hits collection after 10 years of recording.  While that news sounds bizarre, Spears has a new bouncy, electro-pop track titled "3" that will be packaged with the hits.  Produced by Max Martin, who created many of her hits including "...Baby One More Time" and "If You Seek Amy," the song boasts a racy double-entendre such as the latter song which insinuates engaging in a threesome.  The song may taste sugary sweet, but the composition hits a stale point where Britney's voice is computerized once again.
