This kind of news makes me so hopeful about modern music. Since some of my favorite singers including Sade, Erykah Badu and Toni Braxton will release new albums in the next few months, I am equally pleased to learn that the R&B/neo-soul queen Jill Scott will release her fourth studio album The Light Of The Sun during the spring or summer season.
Scott, who has not release new music material since The Real Thing album in 2007, worked her way through TV and film in the past few years. She is currently nominated for a NAACP Image Award for her leading role in the critically acclaimed TV hit “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” on HBO. Scott will be featured in the April 2 release of the Tyler Perry-produced film Why Did I Get Married Too co-starring Janet Jackson, Malik Yoba, Keyshia Cole, Monica and Tasha Smith. Additionally, the title of new mother has been added to her role with the birth of her son Jett Hamilton Roberts in April 2009.
In promotion of her new music, she will embark on the Lilith Fair Tour with fellow soul singers Mary J. Blige and Erykah Badu and pop/rock singers Sheryl Crow, Sarah MacLachlan and Colbie Callat. With that kind of line-up, I will attend a Lilith Fairconcert for my first time. Check out the tour’s website here.
America’s latest guilty pleasure “Jersey Shore” airs its season finale tonight. How many of you will miss it? I will. I admit that I did not watch every episode. That was not necessary for me. The episodes were predictable, yet entertaining. The cast members quickly became icons in modern pop culture, in particular Snooki. Their popularity skyrocketed once reaction from Italian-American groups and New Jerseyresidents became public when they criticized the show for demoralizing stereotypes Italian-Americans. Now, the cast members have as instant cult following which includes hundreds of online parodies from fans and celebrities.
“Jersey Shore” is the train wreck of a reality-TV show that I live for. Here are ten reasons why I became a fan of the show and its cast.
“The Situation” is the coolest nickname…ever! J-Woww is in the top ten. Snooki is in the top twenty.
Snooki is so cute — in a tiny, misguided, party girl kind of way.
This is the first reality-TV show where I believe all the guys are actually heterosexual.
There is sooooooo much real drama…not as scripted-looking as “The Hills,” “Survivor,” “America’s Next Top Model” and “Flavor Of Love”
Ronnie is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hot!!!
I was a fan of the “Real World” concept, but that show has run far too long, especially with the spin-offs of the “Challenge” shows. “Jersey Show” reminds me of the ghetto cousin of the “Real World”.
Finally, a show is not under fire for degrading the Black community. (Sorry,BET!)
I love these guys’ misogynistic ways.
I’m going to start throwing up the fist at parties.
I want to party with Snooki, J-Woww, Ronnie and Pauly D.
At least season two is coming. There are no news about which of the cast mates will return. On the hand, my favorite girl Snooki is rumored to have her own spin-off show looking for her own guido to love.
Some good things must come to an end. The “Family Feud” game show franchise is one of them. After Richard Dawson and Ray Combs gave the legendary game show its best 18 years as its first two hosts, the integrity and interest of the show sank drastically thereafter. Low ratings with successive hosts Louie Anderson, Richard Karn and John O’Hurley forced the show to leave the coveted daytime slots and prime time slots it once had into various times on syndicated networks, after shifting from ABC and CBS.
Now, legendary Black comedian Steve Harvey will begin hosting duties for “Feud” inSeptember 2010. After watching Anderson losing interest as a host, which caused him to get fired from the show after three seasons, I gave up watching the show regularly despite being an game show fanatic. I tried to regain interest with the successors Karn and O’Hurley. Karn seemed to be the most clueless host who often failed to give the number one answers during the bonus round. That was awful for people who like to guess the answers at home like me. O’Hurley’s presence brought life and energy back into the show, but the show format seemed to become corny and my long disinterest with the show was eventually realized.
I will admit this. I have never been a fan of Steve Harvey because he is the second most hating comedian whose voice I loathe to hear, second to Paul Mooney. No matter the mainstream opportunities he has received with TV shows such as “Oprah” and “Good Morning America,” I still find Harvey to be very much of a chiltin’-circuit celebrity. The stints he has worked on with cable station BET and Black radio suits his personality and entertaining flair perfectly. Knowing that he is the next of a family-friendly, mainstream middle-America show turns me off in the worst way. I wonder if the family-oriented show’s producers are aware that Mr. Harvey is a wife-beater.
Nonetheless, I am a fan of the syndicated sitcom “The Steve Harvey Show.” I enjoy watching all the characters, especially seeing that Harvey as the main character is quite toned down from Harvey the chitlin’-circuit celebrity.
I do not have to be a fan of Harvey to enjoy watching the “Feud.” The Game Show Network (GSN) run the “golden years” plus Karn’s and O’Hurley’s era on their network every weekday.
Check out this clip below from the Combs’ era that was spoofed on the iconic sketch comedy show “In Living Color” featuring a mocked version of the Jackson music family versus the royal family of Great Britian.
Pop superstars Rihanna and Beyonce have more than a close relationship with rapper Jay-Z in common. Both divas are currently in Europe attending events in edgier fashion that we are accustomed to seeing. Below, Rihanna is pictured at a Norwegian television show in haute couture outfit of many fabrics while Beyonce is photoed in Paris attending their fashion week trying to bring out her inner-rocker style.
Rihanna
Beyonce
Who do you think pulled off an edgier look?
In my opinion, Beyonce tried too hard and looks silly. On the other hand, Rihanna’s look seems a bit excessive, especially since she still has that blonde poodle hairdo on top of her head. My vote goes to Rihanna.
Because I dislike the world-famous golfer Tiger Woods’ celebrity, ever since he purposely removed himself from his African-American roots and relations, I did not bother to speak about his widely publicized scandals until now. Since Woods’ reputation has been tarnished, he is worthy enough to be talked about here.
Tiger Woods has proven himself to be one of the world’s most disgusting male celebrities of all-time once the revelation of more than a dozen mistresses in his marriage life became a hot topic constantly for the last two months. Although he is currently attending a sex addiction treatment facility in Mississippi, I think it would be wise for his wife Elin to cut her losses soon and divorce the chump. Tiger is better off single and free to hump any trampy trash at his leisure.
So, Tiger is the worst celebrity husband now. Agree? Well, let’s talk about United States politician John Edwards.
The former North Carolina politician rose to national fame in 2004 during his vice-presidential run along John Kerry. Many Americans upheld Edwards as a moral figure for standing by his wife Elizabeth during her bout with cancer after losing the Vice President bid. Unfortunately, the public was fooled.
Since The National Inquirer expose about Edwards’ alleged affair with a former campaign worker Rielle Hunter surfaced in 2007, Edwards and his handlers tried to refute those allegations as clever as possible. As time continued, more details about the affair came to light, especially a lovechild that was born in 2008. Ultimately, John admitted to an affair with Hunter, which drew public ire since the affair took place during Elizabeth’s cancer treatment. Edwards tried to save his reputation by claiming he did not father a child during his extra-marital affair until this week. In a non-shocking moment, Edwards acknowledges the lovechild as his own daughter.
So who is the bigger scumbag? Is it Tiger for having extra-marital affairs with more than a dozen busted-lookin’ chicks? Is it the former senator for lying about his infidelities that occurred during his wife’s cancer treatments which bore a child? My vote is for Tiger because he proves that he has no respect for women for sleeping around with that many trashy whores, especially without the use of condoms. So far, Edwards has only one hoe under his cheating belt.
Cindy and Meghan
McCain, the wife and daughter of Senator
John McCain, are the recent celebrities who have joined the "No
H8" gay marriage support
campaign. Though John stands by his position and fight against gay marriage, he
supported his wife belief as she contacted the campaign organizers herself to
publicly show her support. Conversely, Meghan has been an open advocate and
ally for gay rights for a very long time.
I am not surprised that there is some Republican support for gay marriage.
However, in this case, I would have figured that Cindy would stand by her man's
decision about this hot topic in America.
Her actions made me respect so much as an individual and a liberated woman. In
almost every political society, it is uncommon for the wife or husband of a
politician to publicly differ on any bill or serious topic of popular debate.
My respect for Cindy has nothing to do with her support in gay marriage. I
respect people who are against gay marriage as well as people who support it
like me.
After all, we are all individuals. We must form our own opinions unique to
our beliefs and desires
Now, I wonder what policies do Bill
and Hilary Clinton and President
Barack and Michelle Obama differ? Will any of them join the "No H8"
campaign?

Today, I had the honor of interviewing actor/model/photographer Kairon John. Many of you may remember his handsome face on some of your favorite shows on the tube and silver screen including "Noah's Arc," "Friends & Lovers" and the short film Portrait of a Couple.
Kairon and I hammed up a great conversation as we talk about his very impressive acting and modeling career, working with famed photographer David LaChapelle for a recent photo shoot and finding career guidance by the path of silver screen icon Will Smith's success? That sounds like a great path to use an inspiration. By the way, did you know that he was a fixture on the 1990's Saturday morning TV sitcom "California Dreams" and has worked with Destiny's Child, Jennifer Lopez and Shannon Doherty (on the original "90210" TV series)? He dished on all of that.
Kairon's interview became one of favorite subjects to interview. This guy's personality is so engaging. He was serious, comical, sarcastic, empathetic and whatever else throughout the interview. I cannot wait to share with you all the final edit.
By the way, Kairon...even though I agree with you about the cell phone stuff, you know I cannot include that on here...LOL
Rap icon Jay-Z released another music video to support his album The Blueprint 3. Titled "On To The Next One," featuring Swizz Beatz in one of Jay-Z's hottest. By the way, is that Beyonce dancing in the video? Whoever it is, that chick with the Lady Gaga-inspired look dances like Beyonce.
Within the first few minutes of 2010 (east coast time), some celebrity had to make a fool of him/herself. Besides rapper Bow Wow who boasted online about driving while intoxicated to which no one caring much about him these days, pop diva Jennifer Lopez won the honor with her sheer, body suit and bafooning it up on stage like a drunk during the closing of Ryan Seacrest's countdown show on ABC. Those who have seen her antics saw the desperate pop diva kicking her legs in the air with a drunken stupor live on television while the credits were rolling.
If Jennifer had any sense, with her embarrassing American Music Awards performance of "Louboutins" and this recent incident, Jennifer should no longer agree to make any appearances on the ABC network. Apparently, the station is bad luck for the soon-to-be has-been.
Why aren't Marc Anthony (Lopez' husband), Epic Records (her record label) and her management telling this misguided woman that her music career is a wrap?
For those that care about her brief interview with Seacrest at the countdown show, check out the video.
I am a huge fan of comedienne Kathy Griffin, but some of her shenanigans are too ornery and stupid to find funny.
For the second consecutive year, Griffin has found a degrading way to be remembered while hosting the New Year's countdown on CNN with co-host Anderson Cooper. For some idiotic reason, she found humor in purposely mispronouncing the name of the "Balloon Boy" as "Fucker" instead of Falcon. Did she not learn her lesson with being fired for the Emmy's red carpet years ago for saying inappropiately crude remarks about child actress Dakota Fanning?
